Woodside colt tops Perth session

Woodside Park  Jan 29 2010

Gai Waterhouse and Denise Martin paid $180,000 for Woodside Park’s Fastnet Rock-Munchie (by Snippets) colt to top the second session of the Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Belmont Park sales complex. The colt will race under the Star Thoroughbreds banner.

Woodside Park’s two yearlings in Perth were presented by Kambula Stud, as agent.

“I love the Fastnet Rocks,” said Martin, principal of Star Thoroughbreds. “He’s such a young, hot sire and until now it’s been difficult to secure a nice one.

“Gai and Greg [Nash, veterinarian] thought he was one of the top picks of the sale. He has everything pointing toward him being a runner.”

Waterhouse and Martin, who were visiting the Perth yearling sale for the first time, said they have been impressed with what they have seen.

“Neither Denise or I have been to this sale,” Waterhouse said. “But we’ll be back. The horses are well prepared and I’ve really enjoyed the trip. I’m already looking forward to next year.

“Denise was delighted to be able to get the Fastnet Rock colt tonight — he will return to Sydney and be syndicated by Star Thoroughbreds.”

Premium Thoroughbreds paid $82,500 for Woodside Park’s Choisir–Salutes colt.
